NYC Health Department’s HIV yearly estimate
The NYC Health Department has released the most precise estimate of annual citywide HIV incidents. About 4,800 New Yorkers were infected in 2006. This newly developed formula is supposed to make estimates more accurate by helping to distinguish previous year incidents from new ones. Using this new estimate it suggests that black New Yorkers and men who participated in sexual acts with other men were the ones who faced the greatest risk in 2006.
